My app says that I’m part of a “performance test” being conducted by my ISP. What is happening and why?
Your internet service provider may conduct performance tests to measure throughput and latency. You will be notified in the eero app if your ISP performs these tests.
If you wish to opt-out of participation, please contact either your ISP or eero Support.
Is eero sharing any additional information with my ISP as part of this test?
Performance tests are gathering throughput and latency results, which may be considered personal data. Collecting this data helps enhance your wifi experience. Please see our privacy notice for full information about eero’s data sharing practices. If you are notified in the app that your network is participating in this testing, you can opt out of participating by contacting our support team or your ISP.
In general, does eero share any of my personal information with my ISP?
Customer trust is our number one priority. At eero, our focus has always been to use personal information responsibly, such as to make our products better and provide customers with support. We share customer information with internet service providers for the purpose of providing customer support and other services to improve the customer experience (e.g., connection speed, network status, signal strength). We disclose in our privacy notice the types of data we use, including information used from or about eero devices.
What’s eero doing with the data it collects for these tests?
As part of these tests, participating internet service providers will receive throughput and latency testing results from your eero network. eero provides this information to service providers to help ensure that speed tests meet appropriate thresholds and meet customer performance expectations.
