eero Secure Content Filters

Contents

Overview

In addition to ensuring your network stays protected and secure from outside threats, it is also important to keep the people on your network safe from unsuitable content on the internet. eero Secure helps to eliminate any worry here.

From within Family Profiles, eero Secure customers will have the option to turn on Content Filtering options. These services can be turned on for each individual profile you have and will apply the selected filters to all the devices under their profile.

We've recently added more content filter categories (ex: shopping, social, chat & messaging, streaming and youtube restricted mode) to give you the ability to have more granular parental controls as well as adding the ability to quickly setup with preset filter levels (ex: Pre-k, Pre-teen, Teen, Adult).

You can go into the content filter settings for each profile and toggle the categories off which will disable the blocking for that profile.

What is the expected behavior when a user tries to access a site that should be blocked from content filters?

The expected behavior when accessing a site that should be blocked through content filters is that you will be redirected to blocked.eero.com or you will see a generic blocked page. This will prevent you from accessing the site that should be blocked.

What if a site that I expected to be blocked through Content Filters wasn’t or vice versa?

We are always trying to find ways to improve the categorization of sites to ensure our customers have a good experience. If you believe a site should be blocked but is not and vice versa, you can:

  1. Add the site to the block site list if a site should have been blocked or you can add the site to the allow list if a site was blocked incorrectly as a work around
  2. Report an inaccuracy on the blocked.eero.com page
  3. Contact support to further investigate

How often should I expect the content filters graphs in activity to update?

If a domain was attempted to be visited but should be blocked, you should be able to check out the insights in the app with the new categories being filtered. We also show the list of devices in a profile to offer more granularity. Insights should update within 1 hour.
