Refer to the eero for Business FAQ if you haven’t already signed up for eero for Business.
To set up a new business network, you will first need to add the name of your business. A business name is an easy way to identify your network when you have more than one network with the same wifi name.
The business name can be the same or different from the network wifi name. Once the business name has been added, you can now set up the network.
How do I set up my network - SSID Setup?
Before you begin, make sure you have the following when setting up your eero wifi network:
- Gateway eero device: An eero device with at least 2 Ethernet ports.
- Power Cord
- Ethernet cord
- Modem
Note: Your phone or tablet will need access to cellular data and Bluetooth turned on.
To set up your network:
- Unplug your old modem and router from power. If you have any other equipment connected to your modem, unplug it and restart the modem.
- Connect your Gateway eero device to your modem using the Ethernet cable included in the box. You can use either of the ethernet ports on the back of your Gateway eero device.
- Plug your Gateway eero device into an available power outlet, then reconnect your modem to power. Your device’s status light will start flashing white.
- Select where your eero device is located.
- Give your eero wifi network a name and a password. Note: Your password must be a minimum of 8 characters and must contain special characters.
- Your eero wifi network should now be up and running.
What happens after I set up my network?
When eero for Business is enabled, a passwordless Guest Network will be created by default for use.
You can adjust these settings and set up additional business features such as multi SSIDs (i.e., Guest, Business and IoT networks) and Captive Portal.
Note: The passwordless Guest Network will have Captive Portal enabled upon creation of the network.
By enabling additional SSIDs, you will have the ability to provide different types of network access to different users (for example, visitors, employees, business critical devices).
What is the difference between Main, Guest, Business and IoT Networks?
- Main Wifi Network: Your main network can be used for a variety of purposes. This network grants access to various types of users, devices, and systems.
-
Guest Wifi Network (Captive Portal Network): Guest wifi access can be separated from employee wifi access via a dedicated guest wifi network. This is suitable for guest devices. It is not recommended to use this wifi network for employee devices or devices that process financial transactions such as Point of Sale devices.
- Note: The guest network should always be used to provide wifi access to third parties.
- Business Wifi Network: Using the business wifi network, any devices that process payments or financial transactions such as point of sales systems can be isolated from the rest of the network, preventing employees or guests from accessing payment or credit card data.
- IoT Wifi Network: eero’s out of the box IoT wifi network allows businesses to segregate their IoT and security devices, creating dedicated IoT control. This is suitable for security devices such as security cameras, alarm panels, sensors and other IoT devices needing to be secured or isolated from the rest of your network.
Note: While all wifi networks are isolated from each other, it is important to note that on the Guest and IoT networks, no two devices can talk to each other. This further enhances security of common types of devices that connect to guest and IoT networks.

Network Setup FAQs
I received an error message when adding a network: “We couldn’t update, something went wrong. Please try again later or contact support".
This can occur when you are using the same SSID as another network. An SSID is the name you assign to your network. Make sure to use unique SSIDs for each network.
I’m hitting Save when adding a wifi network, but it's not working.
Make sure to check your password length. This often occurs when you are not using a password that is 8 characters long, including special characters.
