How do I set up eero with AT&T U-verse?

AT&T U-verse requires you to use AT&T-supplied equipment, typically a modem/router combo. You can use eero with U-verse by setting up an IP passthrough or putting your eeros into bridge mode.

How does TV service affect my setup?

Your setup options depend on whether you have TV service:

  • With TV service: Do not disable your U-verse wifi — many U-verse TV features require a wireless connection from your AT&T device.
  • Without TV service: You can disable your U-verse wifi to avoid conflicting networks.

How do I disable U-verse wifi? (No TV service only)

If you have AT&T internet without TV, you can disable wifi on your U-verse modem/router:

  1. Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.254
  2. Log into your AT&T U-verse account
  3. From the Home tab, select Wireless
  4. Change Wireless Interface to Disabled
  5. Press Save

Note: Only disable wifi if you do not have U-verse TV service. Contact AT&T if you're unsure about your setup.

How do I set up IP passthrough?

IP passthrough lets you use eero with all advanced features while keeping your AT&T modem/router in the network.

We recommend contacting AT&T support for help with this setup. You can also see AT&T's instructions on setting up an IP passthrough.

How do I put my eeros into bridge mode?

Bridge mode is the simplest way to use eero with U-verse. Your AT&T router handles all network routing while eero provides mesh wifi coverage.

To enable bridge mode:

  1. Set up your eeros normally using the eero App
  2. Once you’ve finished setting up the network, tap Settings in the bottom-right corner
  3. Tap Advanced networking
  4. Tap DHCP & NAT
  5. Switch from Automatic to Bridge
  6. Tap Save

Your network will reboot to apply the change.

Note: Bridge mode has some limitations. See What advanced features do I lose in bridge mode?
