eero Communities lets you connect to the internet instantly when you move into a property with pre-installed eeros—no need to contact an ISP or wait days for setup.
Residents of properties with pre-installed eeros can complete the initial sign-up and activation process without contacting an ISP, the property manager, or any other third party. You can quickly get your new home network online without the hassle of dealing with phone support, which can be especially stressful when moving.
Signing up for an eero account and activating the eero hardware in your new home is easy—all you need is your smartphone, and the eero App will take care of the rest.
What will I need?
- eeros are pre-installed at your premise by an ISP or the property management company
- eeros are powered up and the LED is solid white
- You have an iPhone or Android phone
You'll need an email address and phone number to complete account registration and log in to the eero App. To ensure the simplest setup experience, use the same email address and phone number that you used to sign up with your ISP.
How do I set up eero Communities?
When you first move into your new residence and attempt to connect to a wireless network, you'll see a publicly available network. This network will be identifiable by a method indicated by your ISP or property manager. You can connect to the network by locating a QR code at the premise.
Joining this network or scanning the QR code will connect you to this public network, which will automatically redirect you to the internet provider's signup page. You won't be able to use this public network to browse the internet without restrictions—you'll need to sign up with the provider if you intend to use the pre-installed eero network.
When you proceed with the signup process after connecting to the network, you'll be taken to a page where you can select the level of internet service that works best for you, as well as any additional services made available by the provider. After making your selections, you'll enter your name, email address, and phone number. Your ISP may ask you for your desired wifi name and password; if not, you can enter this information later once you have the eero App.
Once this is complete, you'll receive a welcome email with a link to download the eero App. Create an account using the email address and phone number you previously provided for the smoothest experience. Once you have the eero App installed and your account is set up, you can use the eero App to directly configure your network and start using the internet.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a “sign up” network to access the internet?
No. If you connect to a "sign up" network and then try to connect to the general internet before activating your eero network or signing up for the service, you'll be redirected to the signup page. Once connected, you'll have 30 minutes to complete the sign up process before you're disconnected. Based on the ISP that manages your property's internet service, you may be able to access one or two additional websites outside of their sign up page, but for unrestricted access, you'll need to complete the signup process.
Can I add more eeros to my network?
Yes. If you'd like to add more eeros to your network to increase coverage, you can request your provider for additional eeros or purchase more eeros and use the eero App to add them to your existing network. Your network will still be managed by your provider, so you'll still see the provider's branding in your eero App.
What happens if I hard reset or delete my network?
You won't be able to delete your network from the eero App if your network is owned and operated by your property management company and/or service provider, in contrast to normal networks where you can do so at your discretion. Your network will stay online and active until your agreed upon move out date, at which time your network will be automatically deleted and your network will be reset, removing all your settings and information, making it ready for use by the next resident. If you accidentally or intentionally hard reset your eero, it will automatically re-add any provider owned eeros to the existing network the next time it reaches the internet.
Can I set up an eero network if I don't have a smartphone?
No. While you can use any device to access account.eero.com and create an eero account, you'll need an iPhone or Android smartphone to scan QR codes, download the eero App, complete your network activation, and make any necessary changes now or in the future.
What do I need to do if I'm moving out?
If you're moving out of your residence and would like to terminate service, contact your provider or property management company to inform them of your move-out date. Once this is done, your ISP will remotely reset your network on the move-out date and disassociate the eero network from your eero App account. You'll know the process is complete when the network disappears from your eero App view.
I've completed the signup process but my internet access is still restricted to a Captive Portal. What can I do?
If you're still experiencing Captive Portal restrictions when connecting to the setup network after signing up for ISP service, your network connection may need to be refreshed to function properly. To do this, close the web browser you're using to access the web portal. In your phone's wifi settings, manually disconnect from the setup network and reconnect to it.
