How do I turn off my router's wifi?

You'll need to turn off your router's wifi directly through your router's settings—not through the eero App. Most routers require you to connect a computer with an Ethernet cable and access the router's settings page. Some internet service providers (ISPs) let you change this through their online portal instead.

If you're unsure which method works for your router, contact your ISP for help.

Note: These steps are general guidelines. Every router is different, so contact your ISP if you need specific instructions.

Method 1: Connect directly to your router

  1. Connect a computer to your router with an Ethernet cable. Plug the cable into one of the LAN ports on the back of your router (most have 4 ports)
  2. Open a web browser and enter your router's IP address in the address bar. Common examples are [IP_ADDRESS] or 10.0.0.1. Check the sticker on the bottom of your router for your specific IP address
  3. Log in with your router's admin credentials. These are usually printed on your router's box or on the sticker on the bottom
  4. Find the wireless settings page. Look for sections labeled "Network Settings," "Wifi Settings," or "Wireless"
  5. Turn off the wifi. Look for a toggle or checkbox to disable wifi. This setting might also be called "Broadcast," "Radio," or "SSID"

Method 2: Use your ISP's web portal

If your ISP offers an online portal to manage your router:

  1. Go to your ISP's website and log in with your account information
  2. Navigate to the router settings page
  3. Find the wireless settings page. Look for sections labeled "Network Settings," "Wifi Settings," or "Wireless"
  4. Turn off the wifi. Look for a toggle or checkbox to disable wifi. This setting might also be called "Broadcast," "Radio," or "SSID"
