How do I add or remove eeros from my network?

You can add, replace, or remove eeros from your network through the eero App. Add as many eeros as you need—they can join wirelessly or over Ethernet. eero 6 Extender and eero Beacon always join wirelessly.

To get started:

  1. Open the eero App and tap the Home tab
  2. Tap the (blue plus icon) in the top-right corner
  3. You'll see three options:
    • Add indoor eero - Easily extend your wifi
    • Add outdoor eero - Extend your wifi outdoors
    • eero signal - Add cellular backup to your network
    • Replace eero - Upgrade or swap an eero

Note: Only eero Outdoor 7 is currently rated for outdoor use.

Add indoor eero

After selecting the option to add an indoor eero, you'll see these steps:

  • Place eero
  • Connect eero to network
  • Test placement
  • Set location

Place eero

If this is your first time adding an eero, you'll see three placement tips for optimal coverage:

  • Place your eeros for coverage
  • Position away from obstructions
  • Away from large electronics

Connect eero to network

Next, you'll connect the eero:

  • Plug the eero into power (Blinking White LED): You'll see confirmation that your eero has power and a link to learn more about Power over Ethernet devices.
  • Looking for an eero (Blinking Blue LED): The app will detect your eero using Bluetooth—stay close to the eero during this phase. You can scan the barcode located on the eero.
  • eero is ready to connect (Solid Blue LED): The app has found and connected to your eero—it's ready to set up.

Test placement

The app will run a placement test to measure the wireless signal. You'll see one of three results:

  • Nice! Placement looks great - The eero is receiving a strong signal
  • Placement could be better - The eero is receiving a signal, but it could be better. Try moving the eero closer to another eero
  • The eero is out of range - The eero isn't receiving a connection. Try moving the eero closer to another eero

Set location

Choose a location name for your eero from our curated list of room names, or scroll down to Custom location to provide your own. For the best experience, we recommend naming your eeros unique location names to avoid confusion.

Registering

The app will register and add the eero to your network.

Once your eero has been added to the network, you can choose to add another or finish setup.

Add outdoor eero

After selecting the option to add an outdoor eero, you'll see these steps:

  1. Placement guide
  2. Connect eero to network
  3. Test connection
  4. Set location
  5. Mount the eero

Placement guide

You'll see three placement tips specific to outdoor eero:

  • Place in an elevated location
  • Place away from large objects
  • Place within range of your eero network

Connect eero to network

Next, you'll connect the eero:

  • Plug the eero into power (Blinking White LED): You'll see confirmation that your eero has power and a link to learn more about Power over Ethernet devices.
  • Looking for an eero (Blinking Blue LED): The app will detect your eero using Bluetooth—stay close to the eero during this phase. You can scan the barcode located on the eero.
  • eero is ready to connect (Solid Blue LED): The app has found and connected to your eero—it's ready to set up.

Test placement

The app will run a placement test to measure the wireless signal.

Set location

Choose a location name for your eero from our curated list of room names, or scroll down to Custom location to provide your own. For the best experience, we recommend naming your eeros unique location names to avoid confusion.

Registering

The app will register and add the eero to your network.

Mounting the eero

The app will display a link to in-depth installation videos to assist in mounting the eero.

Replace eero

If you'd like to replace one of your eeros with a new one, follow these steps:

  1. Open the eero App and tap the Home tab
  2. Tap the (blue plus icon) in the top-right corner
  3. Tap Replace eero
  4. Choose the eero you wish to replace
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions

The new eero will have a solid white LED when it's online.

Remove eeros from your network

Only network owners can remove an eero from a network from the app. To remove eeros from your existing network:

  1. Open the eero App and tap the Home tab
  2. Tap the eero you'd like to remove
  3. Tap More Options (more options icon) in the top-right corner
  4. Tap Remove "name" eero
  5. Tap Remove from Network at the bottom of the screen

Alternatively, the reset button on your eero can be used to hard reset and remove it from your network. Learn more about hard resetting your eero.
