Installing the eero PoE 7 has additional requirements when compared to setting up a standard eero, but will be familiar for anyone who has previous experience installing the eero PoE 6. Refer to the instructions below for detailed instructions on how to install the mounting bracket and eero PoE 7 on a suitable surface.
If you wish to set up the eero PoE 7 using AC power, you will need to purchase an adapter separately.
Each eero PoE 7 package includes the following:
- 1 eero PoE 7
- 1 mounting bracket
- 4 30.0MM Drywall anchors
- 4 #8-15x30mm Phillips screws
Additionally, in order to properly install the mounting bracket, you will need the following tools:
- 1 Phillips head screwdriver
- 1 Drill and drill bits
Recommended network topology
We recommend using the eero PoE Gateway as the main power source for your eero PoE 7 setup. This eero functions as both a gateway eero and PoE switch. For more information, see our eero PoE Gateway article.
If you decide to use a third party PoE+ switch or injector, keep in mind when setting up your network that the gateway eero must be placed in front (“upstream”) of the PoE+ switch, between the Modem/ONT and the PoE+ switch. If you are using an eero PoE 7 as a gateway, it will require an additional power source: PoE+ 25.5W (802.3at) or 27W USB-C power adapter (sold separately). Professional installation is recommended.

Mounting the eero PoE 7
You will want to identify a suitable location to mount your eero PoE 7, preferably a flat, elevated surface such as a wall or ceiling. Use the eero Placement test to determine a location’s suitability prior to drilling any holes in surfaces. Once you have identified an ideal location for your eero, refer to the instructions below:
-
Pull the PoE cable through the central hole in the mounting plate.
- Attach the PoE cable to the 10.0 GbE PoE+ port on the eero, or connect the AC adapter.
-
Rotate the eero into position in a clockwise manner onto the mount.
You will know that the eero is properly powered when the eero LED activates. Once the eero PoE 7 has been mounted to its bracket, you will be able to proceed with setup of the eero. For more instructions on this process, refer to our in-depth guide on eero setup and installation.
Mounting the eero PoE 7 on dropped ceilings
eero PoE 7 and eero PoE 6 devices can be mounted to dropped ceilings (otherwise known as suspended ceiling tile grids) by using a special third-party mount manufactured by Ventev.
- Mount the T-Bar bracket on the ceiling brace.
2. Attach the Mounting Plate to the T-bar.
3. Secure the eero to the Mounting Plate.
