eero App speed tests measure speeds from your internet service provider (ISP) at your Gateway eero, not the wifi speeds between your eero and your device. The speeds shown in the app won't change as you move around your home.
To test wifi speeds from your smartphone or computer, use services like Speedtest by Ookla or Fast.com. We recommend testing with more than one speed test service and, if possible, more than one device to ensure consistent results.
It's completely normal for eero App speed test results to not exactly match speed test results on your devices. This difference is influenced by several factors:
- Your device may be built to handle lower speeds than your ISP offers
- Distance between your device and the closest eero
- Placement of your eeros
- Nearby sources of interference like other wifi devices and reflective surfaces
