Yes, eero supports IPv6. In order to use and configure your eero network’s IPv6 settings, make sure:

  • Your eeros are running a minimum of eeroOS version 3.7
  • Your eero mobile app is running a version of 2.14 or higher

What is IPv6?

IPv6 is a networking standard that uses longer IP addresses than the older IPv4. This is crucial to allow billions of devices to exist simultaneously on the internet and offers advanced features that can make the internet faster and more secure.

How to enable IPv6

To enable IPv6, take the following steps:

  • Open the eero app
  • Tap the Settings icon in the bottom right corner
  • Tap Advanced
  • Tap IPV6
  • Toggle IPv6 on

Once enabled, your network will briefly reboot. If you’d like to disable IPv6, follow the same steps as above.

How to locate IPv6 addresses of your eeros

To find the IPv6 address of your eero, tap online at the top of the home page then tap the individual eero icon. Under the section IP address, you’ll be able to find the individual IPv6 addresses of your eeros.

How to locate IPv6 addresses of your devices

To find the IPv6 address of your devices drill down to the device by tapping the device category the device is located under (Computer & Personal, Entertainment, Home and Other). Tap the device to view the IPv6 address towards the bottom of the page.

Note regarding IPv6 name servers:

As of app version 2.24.0, it's possible to set custom IPv6 name servers. If you’d like to set Custom DNS, choose DNS under Advanced settings (from the Network Settings page), and tap Custom DNS, then enter your primary and secondary IPv6 DNS server addresses.
