eero lets you use your main network or a guest network when sharing your wifi with others. If you'd like to create a guest wifi network for visitors to use, you can do so from within the eero App.
How do I create a guest network?
From the Home tab:
- Open the eero App
- From the Home tab, tap the
(box with arrow icon) in the top-right corner
- Tap the toggle button next to Enable guest network to allow devices to connect to your guest network
From the Settings tab:
- Open the eero App
- From the Settings tab, tap Guest wifi network
- Tap the toggle button next to Enable guest network
- Tap Save in the top-right corner
Once you've enabled your guest wifi network, you can edit the network name and password to your liking.
Note: When creating a new guest network name and password, your guest network name must be different from your main network name. To keep your guest network secure, we recommend choosing a different password from your main network
You can set your guest network to have no password, but this is discouraged. If you'd prefer not to have a guest network password:
- Delete your existing password so that the Wifi network password field is empty
- Tap Save
- Review the message "By leaving your password blank, you're choosing to turn off your Wifi protection. Do you want to continue?"
- Tap Yes when you're ready
To share your network's login information, give your guests the network name and password, or tap Share wifi details to send them the credentials through a variety of messaging options like SMS, email, Slack, and more. You can also tap Share QR code and have your guests scan your unique QR code to instantly join your network.
If you'd like to disable the guest network, toggle off Enable guest network using either method above. Any previously connected devices would then lose connectivity to your guest network.
How is the guest network different from my main network?
The guest network is meant to be a secure wifi segment completely separate from your main network. This means devices on the guest network cannot communicate with devices on the main network nor with each other. For example, an iPhone connected to the guest network will not be able to stream music on a Sonos speaker also connected to the guest network nor on an Echo connected to the main network.
