How do I add or remove eeros from my network?

You can add as many eeros as you need to your network. With eeros, you can have them join your network wirelessly or over an Ethernet connection. eero Extender & eero Beacons will always join your network wirelessly.

 

How to add or replace an eero on your network

  • Open the eero app
  • Navigate to the ‘Home’ screen
  • Tap the (blue plus icon) on the top right
  • You'll see three options to select from:
  • Add indoor eero - Easily extend your wifi
    • This option is used to add an indoor eero to your existing eero network.
  • Add outdoor eero - Extend your wifi outdoors 
    • This option is used to add an outdoor eero to your existing eero network. (Note: Only eero Outdoor 7 is currently rated for outdoor use)
  • Replace eero - Upgrade or swap an eero
    • This option is used to replace an eero on your existing eero network.
  • Once you’ve selected one of the available options, click the Next Button.

 

 

Add indoor eero

After selecting the option to add an indoor eero, the app will display the following list of steps:
  • Place eero
  • Connect eero to network
  • Test placement
  • Set location

 

Place eero:


If this is your first time setting up a secondary eero, the app will walk through three placement tips to help in picking the optimal placement. If you have multiple eeros on your network, the app will skip these tips.


  • Place your eeros for coverage
  • Position away from obstructions
  • Away from large electronics

 

Connect eero to network:


Next, the app will walk you through connecting the eero.



  • Plug the eero into power (Blinking White LED)
    • The app will display information for confirming the eero has power, as well as a link to more information about our power over ethernet devices.
  • Looking for an eero (Blinking Blue LED)
    • The app will detect the eero via Bluetooth, please stay close to the eero during this phase. From this screen, you also have the option to scan the barcode located on the eero.
  • eero is ready to connect (Solid Blue LED)
    • The app has found and connected to the eero device and it is ready to be set up.

 

Test placement:



The app will run a placement test to measure the wireless signal of the eero. It will produce three results:

  • Nice! Placement looks great
    • The eero is receiving a strong signal.
  • Placement could be better
    • The eero is receiving a signal, but it could be better. Try moving the eero closer to another eero device.
  • The eero is out of range
    • The eero isn’t receiving a connection. Try moving the eero closer to another eero device.

 

Set location:



Next, the app will ask you to choose a location name for the eero. This can be chosen from our curated list of room names or you can scroll down to ‘Custom location’ to provide your own. For the best experience, we recommend naming your eero devices unique location names to avoid confusion.

 

Registering:



Finally, the app will register and add the eero to your network.


Success! Once your eero device has been added to the network, you can choose to add another or finish setup.

 

 

Add outdoor eero

After selecting the option to add an outdoor eero, the app will display the following list of steps:
  • Placement guide
  • Connect eero to network
  • Test connection
  • Set location
  • Mount the eero

 

Place eero:


The app will walk through three placement tips to help in picking the optimal placement specific to the outdoor eero.

  • Place in an elevated location
  • Place away from large objects
  • Place within range of your eero network

 

Connect eero to network:


Next, the app will walk you through connecting the eero.

  • Plug the eero into power (Blinking White LED)
    • The app will display information for confirming the eero has power, as well as a link to more information about our power over ethernet devices.
  • Looking for an eero (Blinking Blue LED)
    • The app will detect the eero via Bluetooth, please stay close to the eero during this phase. From this screen, you also have the option to scan the barcode located on the eero.
  • eero is ready to connect (Solid Blue LED)
    • The app has found and connected to the eero device and it is ready to be set up.

Replace eero

  • Choose the eero you wish to replace
  • Follow the on screen directions in the app

 

Remove eero(s) from your network

Only network owners can remove an eero from a network. To remove eeros from your existing network:
  • Open the eero app
  • Tap the eero you would like to remove
  • Tap No alt supplied for Image (three dot icon) in the upper right corner
  • Tap Remove "name" eero
  • Tap Remove from Network at the bottom of the screen
