Why can’t I hide my network SSID with eero?

While hiding your SSID may be effective in stopping some users from finding and attempting to access your home network, it is actually less effective than other wireless security protocols like WEP.

Hiding your network also isn’t a perfect solution—there are many tools that can provide someone with the ability to see a “hidden” network.

If the goal is to secure your wireless network, the good news is that eero supports WPA2 PSK AES network security by default, with the option to toggle on WPA3. These are the most secure standards currently available.

eero also allows you to track the devices on your network. Through the eero application, you can see which devices are currently on or have attempted to connect to your network via the Number of devices currently on your network section.
