The eero Outdoor 7 provides the most coverage of any eero product to date. A single eero Outdoor 7 will provide up to 15,000 sq. ft. (1394 sq. m.) of coverage. For communication between eero devices, the eero Outdoor 7 can reach a radius of 1000ft via Point-to-Point wireless bridge. Range may be impacted by placement and building materials in nearby structures. For tips on placement, please see this article.
What’s in the box?
The eero Outdoor 7 is sold in a variety of packaging configurations, but in general, all eero Outdoor 7 units are shipped with the following:
- 1 eero Outdoor 7
- 1 mounting bracket
- 2 leveling screws
- 2 stainless steel screws, #8 (15 x 30 mm)
- 2 vinyl siding clips with screws
- 2 drywall anchors (30 mm)
- [Optional] PoE+ weatherproof power adapter
If you purchased the bundled Outdoor 7 with the PoE+ adapter, the power supply will also be included, located at the bottom of the box and underneath the Outdoor 7 unit. The power supply is 18.6 ft (5.66 m) in length.
The eero Outdoor 7 is designed as a power over ethernet device. To function properly, the Outdoor 7 requires a PoE+ (802.3at) connection or better. If you don't wish to purchase the PoE+ weatherproof power adapter, you can power the Outdoor 7 with the eero PoE Gateway or a PoE+ capable injector/switch. Please ensure any equipment used is capable of at least PoE+, standard PoE will not provide a large enough power budget to properly power the Outdoor 7. For more information on PoE, see: Does eero support PoE?
How do I set it up?
The eero App will have a specially designed process for installing an outdoor eero unit. You can access it by selecting “Add outdoor eero” in the App.
Mounting the Outdoor 7 to an external surface will require the use of tools. The eero Outdoor 7 ships with an installation guide in the box that provides steps on how to mount the unit on a variety of surfaces. You can also get installation videos on our website if needed.
Can I use an eero Outdoor 7 with my existing eeros?
Yes–however, combining eero Outdoor 7 with older-generation eero devices on the same network may result in reduced performance across your network. For optimal performance, eero recommends using the same-generation eero devices across your network.
