Does eero support PoE?

What is PoE?

Power over Ethernet, or PoE for short, is an alternative technique for delivering power to devices via Ethernet cabling, as opposed to using traditional power adapters and outlets. It allows users expanded options for placing devices throughout their homes without being restricted by proximity to available power outlets.

PoE setups offer a number of advantages related to networking, centered around reliability and efficiency. It reduces the amount of cabling required to set up a network, and can remain active even during power outages. Data transmission rates for PoE are comparable to that of traditional power, meaning that you will not need to worry about any potential degradation of performance.

Does eero support PoE?

While eero does not universally support PoE, we have a dedicated product line designed to work using PoE. Both the eero PoE 6 and eero PoE Gateway are fully compatible with PoE, as well as compatible with traditional power supplies. The eero PoE 6 can be powered via PoE (802.3af) with a Cat5e cable or higher and a supported PoE switch/injector. Additionally, eero power adapters are compatible with eero PoE 6 and may be purchased separately. Please visit here to purchase the correct adapter for your eero.
