eero PoE Gateway setup

This article is intended to help you set up your new eero PoE Gateway! If you need instructions for installing your eero PoE 6 please see our PoE 6 guide 

 Installation Instructions

The eero PoE Gateway can be installed in any cool, dry area. Use the included power adapter to power your PoE  Gateway. If you would like to install your Gateway on a rack, we recommend using the Amazon eero 1U Rack Shelf for eero PoE Gateway which has been specially designed for easy installation.

What’s in the box:

  • (1) eero PoE Gateway
  • (1) 140W USB-C power adapter

What you’ll need:

  • eero iOS app or Android app
  • Minimum iOS version 15.0 and minimum Android OS version 9.0
  • eero PoE Gateway
    • For wireless capabilities you may add an eero PoE 6 to the network.
  • Mobile device with a data connection (If you don't have access to a data connection, see our workaround instructions.)
  • Internet service provided into your home
  • Cable or DSL modem (if required)

 

Recommended network topology

Port Capabilities:

The eero PoE Gateway is capable of powering up to 8 eero PoE6 access points.

The eero PoE Gateway has eight PoE Capable 2.5GbE ports and two 10 GbE ports.

*Note the eero PoE Gateway only supports wired clients and does not have wireless capability. You can add the eero PoE 6 to enable WiFi for your network.

 

Below is a list of the LED Status lights and what each color represents.  The System LED is directly under the eero logo, and each port has their own separate LED indicators.
