How do I block apps on my eero network?

You can block access to mobile apps on your network by adding devices to a Profile and selecting which apps to block. Block Apps is an eero Plus feature that works at the Profile level, meaning you'll need at least one Profile with devices assigned to it.

How can I block a specific app?

Once you have at least one Profile created, follow these steps to block apps:

  1. On the eero App Home tab, tap the Profile you want to manage
  2. Tap Block apps
  3. Use the Search bar to find an app by name, or tap a category to see relevant apps
  4. Tap the checkbox next to each app to block the Profile's access to it
  5. Tap Save in the top-right corner when you're ready

Note: These steps block only the specific apps you selected, not similarly named apps (e.g., blocking the Facebook app will not block the Facebook Messenger app).

I blocked an app but I can still load it. Why?

App blocks take some time to apply. Some apps like Facebook Messenger will continue to display cached data when offline. This data is not current.

Note: Clear your device's or app's cached data to remove this content. You may need to delete and reinstall the app.

Other expected behavior

While blocking an app on a Profile should prevent access to known domains for all devices on that Profile, you may experience the following:

  • Blocking an app on a Profile prevents access to known domains for all devices on that Profile. However, certain unrecognized subdomains may still be temporarily accessible.
  • Because web blocking functions on a domain level, a change in domain may unexpectedly allow web access on a previously-blocked Profile.
  • Apps that have been blocked on a per-Profile basis are still accessible for download through the device app store. Once downloaded and installed, if the app has been blocked, it will function as though the device has no internet access, or is in airplane mode.
