Mobile App Settings - Intro to the Settings Tab

eero App: Settings

The eero App empowers you to make on-the-fly changes to your home network from anywhere in the world, or right from the comfort of your bedroom. Using the Settings tab, you are able to adjust any aspect of your network, from its name and password to the IP addresses it assigns to devices that connect to it. Read on for more information on how to use the Settings tab to take complete control of your network wherever you are.

How do I access the Settings tab?

Tap on the Settings icon on the bottom of the App screen. You will see a list of commonly adjusted settings at the top of the screen, followed by pages dedicated to more specific and/or advanced settings that can also be reviewed or changed as necessary.

Tapping on each category in the Settings tab will take you to a separate page with more information on the topic. You will also be able to make any necessary changes using the dropdown menus and toggles.

While all standard settings in the App can be adjusted by the user as necessary, some settings, such as the DHCP server, are only editable when the network is in NAT mode. Additionally, settings like Dynamic DNS (DDNS) are only available to eero Plus subscribers.

What are the available options?

Nickname & timezone

You can assign a nickname to any number of networks that you own using this feature. This enables you to maintain separate networks in different locations that have the same SSID, enabling your devices to easily and automatically connect to either network, while still being able to distinguish between the different networks in the app.

Network Nicknames can be set up by following these steps:

  1. Open the eero app and tap on Settings
  2. Tap on Tap Nickname & timezone at the top of the page
  3. Set a Nickname for your network and its location and the settings will save automatically

Additionally, you are also able to set a timezone for any networks you manage in this section. Your network will adjust relevant settings (such as profile-based internet access times) on the basis of your selected timezone.

To set your network timezone:

  1. Open the eero app and tap Settings
  2. Tap Nickname & timezone at the top of the page
  3. Select the proper time zone for your network and the settings will save automatically

Wifi name & password

Aside from setting a nickname for your network, you are also able to change its SSID, or wifi name, completely using the app. Similarly, you can set or change the network’s password from here.

To set your Wifi name and/or password:

  1. Open the eero app and tap Settings
  2. Tap Wifi name & password at the top of the page
  3. View or change the name or password for your network and the settings will save automatically

Note: Changing your network SSID and/or password will disconnect any previously connected devices from your network, and you will need to reconnect using the updated information.

Additional wifi networks

If you have set up multiple networks in different locations using the app, you can use the “Additional wifi networks” option to freely switch between these networks. This allows you to manage the settings of each network individually, or to set up an entirely new network should the need arise.

Network settings

Many of the more advanced settings and network features can be adjusted in the Network Settings subpage. A more detailed explanation of the various settings that can be adjusted here can be found below.

Note: Certain settings adjustments made from the Network Settings page will require a network reboot before they will be applied to the network.

Network users

Here you can view all users who have administrator-or-higher level access to your network. By default, this will be the creator of the account. You can add users as administrators, giving them the ability to adjust most network settings as well. For more information on user admins, see Can my eero network have more than one administrator?

Notifications

You can go here to enable or disable notifications that the app sends to your phone. This includes notifications about new devices that have joined your network, and updates that are available to download.

Software updates

Check here for information about the current version of eeroOS installed on your network. You can check for available updates, and manually initiate a download and install of the latest version.

Note: If a software update is available but a manual update is not initiated, the network will automatically update overnight.

Troubleshooting

If you are having problems connecting a device to your network, you can use one of the offered solutions in the Troubleshooting section to attempt to resolve the issue. You also have the option to contact eero Support from this page.

Account settings

You can go to Account settings to review and make changes to your eero account, including your email address, phone number, and whether you wish to receive email updates from us. You can also manage your existing eero Plus subscription, or purchase a new subscription.
